Moxibustion is a type of heat therapy which involves applying gentle warmth with the burning of the dried herb, Artemisia argyi, also known as moxa. The plant never touches the skin, but the radiant heat produced by moxibustion penetrates deeply into the skin and meridians. This helps to boost and smooth the flow of qi through the body, rids the body of excess moisture and helps to restore balance.
Moxa is also effective in the reversal of breech presentation during pregnancy, a practice recognized by a study in J.A.M.A. and practiced in ancient China for over 1000 years. Patients find treatment with moxa to be very soothing and relaxing.
