Proper nutrition is a significant factor in a healthy lifestyle and positive healing result. Similar to herbs, foods have been studied and used for centuries for their nutritive and healing qualities. Oriental medicine has long recognized that different foods produce different effects in the body. Foods often aggravate or help to ameliorate conditions, so nutritional recommendations can be a key healing factor. There is no universal food pyramid that works for everyone.
The goal is to help you find a balanced diet that is effective for the long-term and contributes to your overall health and longevity.
I encourage all of my patients to choose an organic whole foods diet with minimal amounts of processed foods, sugars, synthetic additives and artificial ingredients. Limit the quantity of items that you eat that come from boxes, cans and packages and choose instead fresh “real” foods. Try to eat only foods with ingredients that your great- grandmother would recognize and eat from all of the colors of the rainbow.
