What is cupping?
Cupping is an ancient technique of applying suction to the skin and acupuncture meridians using glass, bamboo or plastic cups. Cupping is sometimes integrated with an acupuncture treatment. Cups can be left in place for seconds or several minutes or moved along the meridians in a technique known as gliding cupping.
What does cupping feel like?
Cupping feels like a deep tissue massage and is very effective at releasing tight muscles. It is very relaxing to the body and can sedate the nervous system which reaps many benefits including reduction of stress and blood pressure.
Cupping can also help remove toxic substances from the body and thus promote healing. In addition, it is also used for a variety of respiratory conditions such as the common cold, bronchitis and asthma.
